Building Hours

The Science Center is open Monday through Sunday from 6am to 11:30pm. Harvard IDs are required to access to the building after hours. After 5:00pm on weekdays and during weekends, departmental access is limited to Harvard ID holders and others with proper authorization.

Building Access Using Your Harvard ID Card

Your Harvard ID card is your access to spaces that are protected by a card reader – including the exterior doors after hours. You may request card access by submitting a Keys, HUID Card Access to Doors, Telephone Request Form through your department administrator to Science Center Building Operations. For existing HUID holders, access will be granted within one business day of the request. If your Harvard ID is lost or stolen, contact Science Center Building Operations, room B11 at 496-2122 as soon as possible to deactivate the card and then go to Harvard ID Services the next business day for a replacement card. The Campus Service Center ID Card Office is located at the Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Campus Center, Lobby Level.  Once your receive your replacement card, please contact Building Operations to verify that previous Science Center clearances remain intact on your ID number.

Harvard Sponsored Roll  (HSR)

Keys

Requests for keys should be made through your department/center administrator. Keys should be picked up at Science Center Building Operations, room B11, unless other arrangements are made.  Contractors may gain temporary access through Building Operations and should return keys upon departure.

Science Center Key and Card Access Request Form

Submit a completed Keys, HUID Card Access to Doors, Telephone Request Form to Science Center Building Operations in room B11 on weekdays between the hours of 9am-4pm. Requests for only HUID Card Access may be emailed by department administrators to sc_sched@fas.harvard.edu.

Security

A security guard is stationed at guard station on the first floor of the Science Center (495-4964). The security command center is located behind the guard station and is staffed 24 hours, seven days per week including holidays and during university breaks. The telephone on the counter at the guard station automatically dials the command center.

Lock Out Policy

If you are locked out of the building or your office during regular business hours, 9am-4pm, contact the Science Center Building Operations Office at 496-2122...or visit us in room B11. After hours, contact the security guard at 496-9370 (or call the Harvard Operations Control Center at 495-5560).
